Trust

“Like a trapeze artist, are we willing to be suspended in mid-air in total trust of the timing and of a future that is greater than the one we are holding on to?”

This quote was sent to me yesterday by a client. She and I have spoken often about the Universe having our backs. That is a faith she and I have built over time.  It is one that, at times, I still wasn’t so sure I could rely upon. How often are we held back by the fear that this trust creates? Trusting divine timing, trusting whatever you call it, could be God, the Universe, spirit, angels, can be so hard.

Too often, we may be focused more on what we don’t have, what we don’t want, or what we are afraid of losing. Too often, we want something because we think that will bring us happiness or joy. Happiness, as we know intuitively, comes from inside of us, it is about a state of being and a choice to be happy. If we are focused on finding something or someone who makes us happy, we will never truly be happy. If we focus on what we don’t have, and are not focused on our desires we will attract more of what negativity. We may sit in the spiral of lack, instead of cresting abundance.

None of this means we don’t do the work. There are skills and knowledge that may be needed for you to find the job and success you want. There is healing and development for you to attract the love, relationships and partnerships you want. There are spiritual alignment practices you may employ in order to manifest your desires, so you are clear not muddled to the Universe (or God)and to yourself. So often, that confusion is because we are so afraid of letting go of what we think, of expectations and of what we think we want. And the there is this trust thing, trusting the timing and the outcome to something bigger than us, guiding us to what is really our greatest and highest good.

Gabrielle Bernstein, spiritual Guru and best selling author, describes her spiritually aligned method of attracting what you want as the following:

  1. Desire is backed with love and service – Asking yourself, in what ways does my desire bring me joy, and how does my joy bring more love, inspiration and service into the world?
  2. Believe, have faith in this or something better – staying focused on the belief you are worthy of your desires. Using different practices such as healing wounds and reframing limiting beliefs to stay in belief.
  3. Patience, divine timing is not our timing, it is for the greatest good.
  4. Take action from a place that is spiritually aligned, not out of fear, or lack, but from a place of love and joy.

Spending time focused on what you want, practices that give you faith and trust and letting go of outcomes and timing are the linchpins of attracting your heart’s desires. It may not be what you originally expected as the universe works to the highest good, this or something better.

The more we trust and live our life in alignment of what we want, being our best selves, in love and service, the more we see miracles. Trust, as the trapeze artist, in the timing and that the future will be greater than what you are holding onto.
